What is autism? It’s a developmental disorder that is usually detected when the child is 3 years old. People who have autism usually have problems with social interaction, language, and behavior. Symptoms can very dramatically from person to person, depending on where he or she falls on the autism spectrum.
When Hannah was a child, she was diagnosed with autism and suffered from “debilitating shyness.” She even reflected that she spent a lot of time scared, self-conscious and insecure.
Despite cries from doctors to institutionalize her, Hannah’s mother refused and later let her move to Los Angeles when she was 17.
She became a successful actress while living in L.A., though she admitted being the center of attention always freaked her out because she was never really comfortable with it.
Long after she made it in Hollywood, she was still nervous about telling people, especially movie producers. Hannah was able to keep her disability from getting out because she refused to do interviews and talk show appearances.
She even said she rocks back and forth incessantly, something I know all about, with my incessant pacing. Hannah told people:
I’ve learned a couple of things that really would’ve made my life easier if I’d known them 20 years ago.
Now that she has a deeper understanding of what it means to have autism, she’s able to come forward and talk about it. Let’s just hope other famous people also come out of the proverbial closet.
Now she is able to focus her energies on environmental activism.
Having a disability usually means it’s harder to find a job. After all, not everyone can be like Hannah. That’s why we promote LifeWave. It’s payment plan is second to none. Check us out.
