Arthritis. That is one ailment those who have it wish they didn’t. They use copper bracelets to try to manage their pain. Or they might try using magnetic wrist straps. However, magnets or copper to try to relieve pain but according to a recent study, they don’t work. The study was randomized, double-blinded and placebo-controlled.

British researchers randomized 65 patients who had rheumatoid arthritis. They were each given one of four treatments: A powerful magnetic wrist strap, a weak magnetic wrist strap, a regular strap with no magnets, and a copper bracelet.
They all wore every device for 5 weeks each and completed pain surveys.
The patients used a visual pain scale to report pain levels. Those ranged from “no pain” to “worst pain ever.” They also recorded how often their joints felt tender and swollen.
The problem was that there was no significant change for anyone no matter which device he or she used. In fact, they may even have some of the benefits of a placebo.
According to one researcher:
People swear by these things. Is it ethically correct to allow patients to live in blissful ignorance? Or is it better to provide them with the facts? We can’t deceive patients. We have to be honest with them.
