United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon held a meeting at the U.N. last Monday “to break barriers and open doors” to help the more than 1 billion of the world’s disabled.

The goal: To kickstart international action that would make it so that people with disabilities are able to contribute to the global economy.

Far too many people with disabilities live in poverty (and) too many suffer from social exclusion” and are denied access to education, health care and social and legal support.

This was a milestone for people with disabilities, which represent about 15 percent of the world’s population.

He said the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 was “a gold standard with respect to how we treat people and how we open up the world for opportunities” and said he wanted other countries do pass similar laws.

The General Assembly also adopted a resolution that reaffirms the resolve of heads the heads of state and government “to work together for disability-inclusive development” and advance the rights of every person with disabilities.

This non-binding resolution acknowledges the contribution of people with disabilities. It also calls for the inclusion of people with disabilities in each U.N. development goal. It wants action to ensure that they have an equal opportunities to health care, education and employment.

In fact, according to Huffington Post, people with disabilities are twice as likely to find that the offered health services don’t meet standards and three times as likely to get denied services.

Only 5 to 15 percent of the 70 million people who need wheelchairs have one. Few people who need hearing aids or glasses have them. However, this is easily avoidable. In fact, a few countries have taken steps to make sure they have what they need.

If you have disabilities you have have had some or all of these problems. Part of the problem is that it’s hard to find a job, or if you’ve found one, make decent money at it. I’m here to tell you that LifeWave has a decent payment plan. Check us out.
